What are the risks of lesion removal?

As with any procedure, there is a small risk of infection or bleeding. Recurrence of the lesion can occur. There can be bruising and swelling at the excision site which will generally resolve over about a week. Scar formation can occur at the site of excision and can be minimized with application of appropriate topical medication or steroid.
