The effects of aging are commonly first noticed around the eyes. With years, loose skin and protruding fat develop in both upper and lower eyelids forming increased bulging and puffiness above and below the eyes. These changes result in a sad and tired look which can affect the way patients feel about themselves and how others see them. Excess skin of the upper eyelids can cause droopy lids, impairing vision and thus blepharoplasty may be performed on a functional basis to improve a person’s visual field. Through careful removal of extra skin and fat from both upper and lower eyelids, blepharoplasty (eyelid lift, eye lift, eyelid surgery) can reverse these changes resulting in a refreshed, natural look. Upper and lower eyelid corrections are most commonly done together, frequently being combined with facial procedures such as facelift, neck lift, rhinoplasty as well as other cosmetic facial procedures.
Our goal is to perform all surgeries without any patient recollection of the procedure and with the least amount of discomfort, nausea or other anesthetic side-effects. Patient’s comfort and safety are paramount and complete monitoring is performed for all patients undergoing any anesthetic. Since all levels of anesthesia are available in our Medicare-certified surgical center we are able to tailor the technique to patient’s needs, desires and wishes.
Dr. Zemplenyi and the Bel-Red Center for Aesthetic Surgery introduce the RedefinitionLift. For selected candidates this facial rejuvenation sequential treatment provides a scarless alternative to the traditional facelift. Our innovative Nu-Image Lift program combines the latest in surface & deeper technologies to tighten facial skin & volumize the face in selected individuals.
Implants made out of various plastic materials can be used to improve the contours of the facial skeleton or to fill in concave surfaces (valleys in the soft tissues).
Dr. Zemplenyi has been interested in restoration of contour of the face since his fellowship training in Cosmetic Surgery in Beverly Hills in 1987. Modern rejuvenation is based, in part, on restoring the facial volume that has been lost through the aging process. One’s own fat (adipose tissue), used to replace the fat which has shifted or been lost, lends itself as the ideal, natural filler substance and volumizer of cheeks, temples, nasolabial folds etc. -sometimes resulting in dramatic improvement in appearance. Fat is also the richest body source of adult stem cells.
Drooping or flattening of the natural arch of the eyebrows can occur as early signs of the aging process. The eyes then appear smaller, more deep-set, sometimes having more upper eyelid fullness. The horizontal lines which develop in the “crow’s feet” region of the temple and in the forehead, along with the vertical “frown” lines appearing between the eyebrows all contribute to a stern, serious or tired look. While correction of these problems may be achieved on a temporary basis with Botox injections, a forehead lift (brow lift) resolves these changes on a much more better basis for a fresher, more alert look.
Laser skin resurfacing uses a laser to vaporize thin sections of skin layer by layer which heal with a fresher, more youthful appearing skin. Fractional laser skin resurfacing allows precise, microscopic treatment of columns of skin. These pin-point treated areas are surrounded by untreated, unaffected areas, enabling more rapid healing without damaging adjoining skin and tissues. The healing skin induces new collagen formation, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles while firming and thickening the skin.
Liposuction is an excellent method for removal of unwanted fat cells. Dilute local anesthetic solution is infiltrated as tumescent fluid. Neck liposuction is performed through very small incisions behind the ears and under the chin. A compressive bandage is applied at the completion of the procedure.
Otoplasty is a procedure designed to reposition protruding ears to a more natural position closer to the head. Other deformities of the ear folds are also correctable. Dr. Zemplenyi treats patients of all ages at the Bel-Red Center for Aesthetic Surgery. School-aged children as young as four years-old are excellent candidates for this corrective surgery, but otoplasty may be performed at any age. A properly-timed procedure in early childhood avoids labeling (such as “Dumbo ears”) that may adversely affect normal psychological development.
Nasal cosmetic surgery (rhinoplasty, nose job, nasal plasty) is one of the most commonly performed procedure by Dr. Zemplenyi at the Bel-Red Center for Aesthetic Surgery. Reshaping of the nose (rhinoplasty) can improve and restore harmony between the nose and the rest of the face. Whether a hump (bump) on the nose, a crooked outline, or the shape of the tip of the nose is the concern, all these can be addressed with rhinoplasty. Parts of the nose may be reduced in size whereas other aspects of the nose may be augmented (made more prominent) with a rhinoplasty in order to achieve improved proportions and aesthetic harmony. These changes are accomplished by reshaping the nasal framework (cartilage and nasal bone) while the overlying skin drapes over the internal structures altered by the rhinoplasty.
A multitude of raised skin lesions (such as pigmented moles, nevi, blemishes, age spots, seborrheic keratosis and skin tags) may be removed using a technique of a shave excision (planing the growth off). This is easily performed under local anesthesia with very minimal discomfort. Dr. Zemplenyi removes all elevated skin lesions using a high radio-frequency device equipped with a special shaver that enables gentle, bloodless removal resulting in a flat surface. Such a removal immediately improves the appearance and allows application of cover-up makeup in several days following the procedure.
We continually strive to innovate and provide a wide variety of facial rejuvenation procedures at the Bel-Red Center for Aesthetic Surgery. The Silhouette Lift ® offers facial rejuvenation of the early, mild to moderate facial aging changes (sagging of cheeks and jowls) commonly seen in women and men in their forties and older. Unlike any other thread lifts, the revolutionary Silhouette Lift does not use any barbed sutures! Instead, several bio-absorbable cones strung on a suture engage the subcutaneous (under the skin ) tissue layer and allow for lifting and suspension of tissues. These sutures are secured to a deeper layer in the temple region hidden by hair. This revolutionary face lift procedure can be performed under local anesthesia in about one hour and unlike the Lifestyle Lift ® it does not leave any visible scars.
When considering scarring revision procedures a person needs to gain an appreciation of the fact that scars may not be easily erased or fully removed-they may, however, be improved in appearance. The goal of scar revision is to create a skin surface that is flat and blends better into the surroundings. A flat surface reflects light more evenly without shadowing, is less noticeable and may be further covered-up by application of camouflage makeup. Click Here To Learn More
Rhinophyma is not a new condition, afflicting persons living in the Middle Ages. Its cause is not entirely known but it occurs in the later stages of acne rosacea. In the early stages of rosacea the skin becomes flushed as blood vessels expand. As rosacea progresses, the skin becomes more sensitive with small bumps forming on the nose, cheeks, eyelids and chin. As damage to the skin’s blood vessels progresses, the skin thickens, pore size increases and the sebaceous glands (oil glands) become more prominent. While rhinophyma can affect men or women, it is much more common in men — generally occurring in Caucasian men in their 40’s to 60’s. View our Rhinophyma Photo Gallery to see before and after photos.
