Bellevue Liposuction Surgery – Smart Lipo Procedures
Well-being has always been regarded as the key to a happy life, although it cannot be achieved with a simple snap of the fingers. It can encompass anything from the emotional, spiritual, mental, social, and of course, biophysical dimensions. Here at Bel Red Cosmetic Surgery, we believe that looking good and healthy is essential in achieving physical well-being. As part of the team, Dr. Zemplenyi can help you look good and feel good about your body. How? Through Bellevue Liposuction Surgery.
WHAT IS LIPOSUCTION?
Liposuction is the process of removing excess fat in certain areas of the body with the goal of slimming and improving the contours of the body. This technique can be used in many areas including the waist area, thighs, calves, buttocks, upper arms, and even the chin, cheeks, and neck. That is why liposuction is performed together with other plastic surgery procedures such as tummy tuck and facelift.
CAN LIPOSUCTION BE USED TO TREAT OBESITY?
Take note that liposuction is not considered as a treatment for obesity; proper diet and exercise is still the best way to combat excess fats. It can, however, be considered for patients whose condition (obesity) remains refractory to treatment. Take note that once fat cells are removed by liposuction, they are gone and are less likely to recur. Liposuction is also not effective in removing cellulite and stretch marks.
BEFORE THE PROCEDURE:
Liposuction can be a rather expensive procedure and therefore should be thought about carefully. All surgeries have risks, no matter how skilled the surgeon. That’s why before the procedure, Dr. Zemplenyi will sit down with you and discuss your options with you. He will also cover the risks and benefits of surgery, including a step by step account of what will go on during the procedure, and will answer whatever questions you might have. As part of the pre-operative evaluation, Dr. Zemplenyi will conduct a proper interview and assessment by asking you questions regarding other co-morbid conditions you might have including high blood pressure, diabetes, allergies, and lung problems. This information will help him facilitate the procedure and properly plan post-operative management.
HOW IS LIPOSUCTION DONE?
Before Dr. Zemplenyi makes an incision, he will sterilize/clean the area and inject an anesthetic to make it numb. He will then insert a vacuum tube through the incision; this apparatus will loosen the fat and suck it out.
HOW SOON CAN I GET BACK TO WORK?
Recovery time depends on the extent and location of surgery. It can be done on an outpatient basis, an office-based facility, or in the hospital. Bandages and compression garments are applied after the operation to help maintain shape and to stop bleeding. The compression garments are kept for a couple of weeks. Medications are also given to control the pain and swelling; sometimes, antibiotics are prescribed as a prophylaxis for surgical site infection.
After 1 to 2 weeks, the patient’s condition is expected to improve. Return to work is expected in a few days, although the bruising and swelling may take up to 3 weeks to improve. A change in body contour can be noted in the first few weeks.Dr. Zemplenyi will schedule a follow up at around this time to check up on you. Unlike traditional methods that involved a vacuum-like medical instrument, non invasive liposuction uses a scope that is inserted beneath the top layer of the skin to remove excess fat. This procedure provides patients with an alternative to liposuction by using a different type of medical instrument that barely penetrates the surface. Literally. Call Bel-Red Center today.
The main reason why liposuction is so popular is because it provides patients with immediate results. Patients often look slimmer and more slender even after only one procedure.
Because liposuction is a safe and relatively minimally invasive procedure, it can be performed under local anesthesia or IV sedation, leaving the individual and patient with minimal discomfort.
Liposuction has been around since the early 1970s, and has grown to become a very common and popular plastic surgical procedure among both men and women.
