Asian Eyelid Surgery in Bellevue (Belpharoplasty)

Blepharoplasty is another term for eyelid surgery. Blepharoplasty surgery helps to reduce bagginess and remove excess skin from the upper eyelids. Usually done for cosmetic reasons, it is also used to help improve vision in certain patient cases. In addition to reducing puffiness, Asian patients may also elect to undergo blepharoplasty to create a pretarsal crease when it does not exist.

Blepharoplasty is performed by making small incisions around the eye area. After the incisions are made, excess skin and fatty deposits are removed from the incisions. Because of the unique almond shape of Asian eyelids, Asian blepharpplasty surgery requires one extra step, the creation of what is known as a “double break” in the upper eyelid crease. An Asian blepharoplasty procedure must be performed skillfully and carefully, as patients generally do not wish alter their ethnic appearance, and desire natural-looking results. A skilled surgeon will know how to improve the look of one’s face without losing their natural ethnic features.
