Get a More Youthful Look with Neck Liposuction

before2

As we age, the skin loses elasticity, and facial support structures become less firm. Additionally, fat accumulates in some areas creating double chins, muscle support loosens to form neck banding skin and skin sags into a “turkey waddle” .
Liposuction is an excellent approach for removing those unwanted and unattractive fat deposits to create a smoother, tighter, more youthful look to the neck and chin areas.
 The Neck Liposuction Procedure
Neck liposuction or rejuvenation is generally performed under IV sedation or “twilight sleep” anesthesia. This allows for optimal patient comfort, as well as quick recovery following the surgery. Additional injections of a local anesthetic will further numb the area, as well as decrease bleeding.

Tiny incisions are then made behind the ears and under the chin. A diluted local anesthetic solution is injected as tumescent fluid. This fluid reduces bruising and bleeding. The tumescent fluid will loosen and liquefy the fat cells, which will then be removed through a gentle suction technique. Once this excess fat is removed, the skin will then conform to the new contours, producing a more youthful, uplifted look to the area.
Neck Lift
A neck lift will augment the results of neck liposuction if sagging skin and loss of elasticity, in addition to excess fat is a concern.  The neck lift raises drooping skin and brings the platysmal bands to their original, more youthful position.
 After the Procedure
After the procedure, the surgical area is bandaged. A drain may be placed to prevent fluid build up. These drains, if placed, will be removed within a day or two. If non-self-absorbing sutures are used, the sutures will be removed in approximately 10 days.
Due to the minimally invasive nature of the liposuction procedure, patients are able to leave the clinic within an hour of surgery.
During the healing process, the head should be kept elevated to speed healing and reduce swelling. Any bruising or swelling should resolve itself over the next two to four weeks. Possible minimal pain or discomfort associated with the procedure is usually controlled with oral pain medications.

Patients will be able to return to normal work and social activities within about a week. Vigorous activity or exercise should be avoided for at least three to four weeks.
